[caption id="attachment_10011" align="alignleft" width="300"] This series of classes focuses on the fundamentals of rendering flowers. The first part introduces various techniques using graphite, with the second part concentrating on watercolour.
We will spend some time on shading and pencil techniques; discuss the pitfalls that beginners fall into (e.g. work being too pale and flat because of not enough contrast and depth/colour); look at the colour science and opaque/transparent/staining properties of different watercolours; practice effective colour mixing; and also look at mixing believable greens and using a smaller palette (of colours) to mix a wide variety of hues to bring cohesiveness to a painting.
The watercolour component will concentrate on producing a finished painting using washes, contrast, and highlights in a looser style.
Drybrushing and glazing techniques will also be taught.[/caption]
